Biography
Mr. Benson teaches the law of secured transactions, with particular emphasis on Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code. He joined the adjunct law faculty at BYU in 2007. He also is employed as General Counsel of Bank of American Fork. After graduating from J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1981, for twenty-five years Mr. Benson was employed by the Salt Lake City, Utah law firm of Callister Nebeker & McCullough, where his legal practice focused on banking and finance law. Mr. Benson has expertise in complex commercial litigation, secured transactions and related areas of law such as real estate finance, loan workouts, loan documentation, bankruptcy, negotiable instruments, bank deposits and collections, bank operations and regulation, electronic funds transfers, letters of credit, and leasing, all of which enable him to share not only a wealth of practical experience but also some great war stories!
