Biography

Judge McCleve, who recently retired after 25 years on the bench, teaches mediation as an adjunct faculty member at the law school and hears cases on a protem basis for other Utah judges as a “senior judge”. As a sitting judge, she worked in district and circuit trial courts and served protem in the juvenile court and the Utah Supreme Court. She also taught classes for the Utah courts. Before her appointment to the bench, she was an assistant Salt Lake City prosecutor, a Salt Lake Deputy County attorney and an administrative law judge for the Utah Public Service Commission. She has been a featured speaker at numerous conferences for various organizations and has chaired or served on numerous committees. She clerked for now retired Chief Justice Richard C. Howe of the Utah Supreme Court and briefly studied jurisprudence at Oxford University. She is a graduate of the first class of the J. Reuben Clark Law School.
